Extreme Ghyll Scrambling
The perfect day out for those you looking for a full on adventure day in spectacular surroundings.
Esk Gorge is a fantastic Adventure with plenty of adrenaline. It’s one of our favourite adventures – starting with a drive over the Hard Knott Pass, followed by a gentle walk up the breathtakingly beautiful Eskdale to the “get-in”. It’s the adventure we use to end a course on a high, and a favourite whenever one of the AdventureMakers team has friends visiting the Lake District for the first time.
It’s not for the feint-hearted but is perfect for an adventurous team building day, or an adrenaline filled corporate away day. It’s also a brilliant adventure for a stag do or hen weekend. But also great with family or your favourite a group of friends.
Or is it canyoning?
As the only company in the Lake District with a team of UKCG qualified canyon guides we offer both canyoning and ghyll scrambling.
The difference between canyoning and ghyll scrambling is that canyoning involves going down a steeper more technical gorge, whereas ghyll scrambling is less technical and so is more suitable for larger groups. Both include optional jumps and slides. But they tend to be less optional when canyoning!
Both are fantastic fun, brilliant watery adventures.
You’ll wear a harness for a canyoning adventure. You’ll be with a more specialist, qualified UKCG canyon guide and will use ropes and specialist canyoning techniques to descend the steeper section of a gorge or canyon following the water down.
